Welcome to the SC Midlands Chapter of ISACA Site!

President's Message

The State Audit Conference will be held this year on October 18, 19, and 20th at the Columbia Convention Center.  There is early bird pricing for all attendees - don't miss this opportunity for 20 CPEs at just $22.50 a CPE!  George Spalding is returning at your request to speak on IT Governance, Risk and Compliance.  To register, click on Future Events and then the date.  What a deal!  This year you can pay by check or credit card.

Sign up is ongoing for our classes.  Catch the early bird on all sessions posted out on the calendar.  Check them out on the tab Future Events.  October 6th, Mike Parsons will present "Using PCI as an Assessment Framework," November 3rd, Derek Melber will come back and discuss "Security Event Logs for Windows," December 1, John Akerman will present selected discussion on Computer Forensics, January 5th, 2011 - Ken Cutler will stop by and do a brief talk for us on the "13 ways to Avoid Data Leakage," and on March 2, 2011, Greg Shields, MVP will present an all day session on "Understanding Virtualization's impact on Auditing and Security."  More to come.

Registration this year will be on our new registration tool.   We will still have Early Bird Discounts for all attendees - with members receiving the largest discount.  Members, be sure to logon to the site using your ISACA email address.  (Note we are asking for the email address not the ISACA userid.) The system will automatically pick up your status and provide you with the proper discount.  You will still have the ability to pay by check or by credit card.  We request that you mail in your check in the appropriate registration period.  Guests are always welcome, just use the non-member tab and get your discount.  Of course we always welcome our associates in IIA, the State Internal Audit Groups, IISA, and other ISACA associations and you will receive a special discount.  ISACA Students members, Retirees members, and our Academic Advocates are invited to our classes for free!  Just click on the appropriate listing from the drop down box after you hit registration, and use the discount code we provided to you.

CISA Review and CISM Review sessions are being scheduled.  We sent a survey out to determine interest for signing up for a CISA Review class at the State Audit Conference.  We determined there is interest in a class for the fall.  Sign-up for the exam at ISACA International closes October 6th, 2010 at http://www.isaca.org/Certification/Pages/Exam-Registration.aspx  Make sure you get signed up.  Once we see how many are signed up, we will send out an email to determine who wants a class.  We have instructors who are specialists in each of the areas of study on board to teach a class.  We are available to offer the class during the week at the Convention Center or in a downtown location, or we can teach it on a weekend.  Please let us know your preference, so that we can arrange for space.  Send your requests to DaveGorney@Sonoco.com

Sincerely,
Sue Rusher

2010 – 2011 President
