Welcome to the SC Midlands Chapter of ISACA Site!

President's Message

Our January session, “Technology and the Auditor,” had excellent attendance and an excellent speaker. John Gatto of Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC) in Chicago, IL, shared his 40+ years of experience conducting and managing IT Audits over a wide variety of topics.  We were entertained and educated.  Thank you John!

Early bird sign-ups are up for March, April and May.  We still have a few spots available for our session in February.  Hurry and sign up for the February session. Brian Kelley will discuss how to set up the entire environment so that our SQL servers are secure.  In March we will have a full day session on Introduction to Computer Forensics.  In late April, Ken Cutler will teach us over a full day “Taking the Mystery Out of Technical Audits of Network Security,” plus we will follow that up with a social event to honor our chapter's 30th Birthday and honor our past chapter presidents.  On May 10th, we will co-host with the Columbia branch of the ACFE and the Palmetto Chapter of the IIA and learn from one the world’s experts in linguistic lie detection – Ms. Nejolla Korris.  On June 6th, we are currently planning a session on IT Risk.  Hope to see you there!

Volunteers Needed: Please contact either Tom Hart or Sue Rusher to let us know if you would like to help our chapter.  Working on the Board offers great networking with leaders locally, nationally, and internationally, extra CPEs and a chance to make a difference.   Call or email for more information!  The following volunteers are needed:

  • We are looking for volunteers to continue to build relationships with our local universities: We need a volunteer (who would be a board member) to help us get the ISACA information out to students at our universities and community colleges.
  •
  • Our Education Program needs volunteers to continue to offer great classes at great prices. We are looking for committee volunteers to help us put on our monthly sessions – from finding speakers – to setting up what to eat – to answering questions from our guests.
  •
  • Newsletter Editor – Responsible for a monthly creation of our member newsletter.  This Board position works with the president and other board members to collect the information needed to publish chapter and ISACA International news to members and friends. UPDATE!  Welcome Don West to the SC Midlands Board as the Newletter Editor!  Thank you Don!

Many thanks go out to our retiring Newsletter Editor, Chris Oder.  Chris has served on the board for three years and we are sorry to see him go but wish him luck on his new endeavors!

2010 – 2012 President

Sincerely,

Sue Rusher
